Mayor wraps investigation into Atlanta fire chief

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has concluded his investigation into Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran.

Cochran received a month-long suspension without pay in November for publishing a book, Who Told You That You Were Naked? The book contains homophobic content, including referring to homosexuality as a "sexual perversion."

"I want to be clear that the material in Chief Cochran's book is not representative of my personal beliefs, and is inconsistent with the administration's work to make Atlanta a more welcoming city for all citizens -- regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, race, and religious beliefs," Reed said in a statement after learning of the book.

Reed has not yet announced whether Cochran will keep his job.

In addition to the suspension, Cochran was required to complete sensitivity training, and was prohibited from distributing copies of his book on city property.
