Grocery store gutted by fire | News
ATLANTA -- A southeast Atlanta grocery store was destroyed by fire overnight.
The fire was first reported at around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Grocery & Package Store near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Fayetteville Road.
Atlanta Fire Battalion Chief Todd Edwards said the fire began on the roof and quickly spread, gutting the building.
A homeless man who often sleeps near the building was not injured in the blaze. Edwards said no one else was nearby or injured.
Fire crews from Atlanta and DeKalb County worked to put out the fire. The cause is under investigation.
