EAV | Kirkwood bar liquor license denied by Reed | News

ATLANTA -- An East Atlanta bar owner who was, once, at the center of a racial battle in his own neighborhood is facing another battle; this time it's against the city. 

According to What Now Atlanta!, popular East Atlanta bar, Kirkwood Bar and Grill recently had their liquor license application denied by the city for the 2012 calender year.  

What Now Atlanta reports that according to the Mayor's spokeswoman Sonji Jacobs Dade, the mayor decided to deny this application after he "carefully considered the neighborhoods concerns". 

The owner of the bar, David Johnson, maintains that the neighborhood wants him out because he is African-American, as is much of his clientele.
