Valentine's Day to Mother's Day: The United Way Shoebox Project

Atlanta, GA--   The 2011 United Way Shoebox Project is currently underway, and like every year individuals and companies throughout the Atlanta area are filling up empty shoeboxes with much needed toiletries for homeless women and children.  Last year over 80 homeless shelters in the area received more than 15,000 shoeboxes to help fight homelessness.

Ways you can get involved

  • Encourage your family, friends and co-workers to fill a shoebox with a combination of new, unopened items from the items needed list. To allow for safety inspections, please make sure your box can be opened.
  • You can host your own shoebox party, and invite friends and neighbors to decorate and fill shoeboxes together.
  • Check online for drop-off locations and to sign up for volunteer opportunities.

11 Facts about Vegetables

11 Facts about Vegetables

Grandma was notorious for making sure my brother and I ate our turnip greens (not my favorite at the time), but now I enjoy greens and it doesn’t matter what kind.

I thought it would be fun to list a few things that I know about vegetables. Feel free to take part in this exercise.
