Enough is Enough! Community Rally

WHAT:           As part of Commissioner Johnson’s Renaissance Initiative, the Enough Is Enough! initiative to ‘take back the community’ has been launched.  Community engagement is needed to help combat crime.

"Fourth Fridays" Art Walk in the Old 4th Ward takes place Tomorrow at StudioPlex

Atlanta, GA--  On Friday, September 24 from 6-9 p.m., Studioplex, the live/work community in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward, will host its next ‘Fourth Fridays’ monthly Art Walk www.Studioplexlofts.com.

Every last Friday of the month, art lovers and collectors are invited to Art Walk to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and discover exciting new artists in the heart of Atlanta. This month, Art Walk guests are invited to join ERSLA (Emergency Response Services for Latin America www.ersla.org) at a special fundraiser featuring art, live music and dance exhibitions highlighting the diversity in Latin America culture. 

At this free ERSLA event, ERSLA hopes to raise awareness about the need for simple ceramic water filter systems for families who currently do not have safe drinking water.

Reduce Water Bills. Dekalb County Watershed Management Hosts Rain Collection Workshop 9/25

Atlanta, GA--  The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) will host a Rain Barrel workshop for DeKalb citizens on Saturday, Sept. 25, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Tucker Recreation Center, 4898 Lavista Road in Tucker.

Collecting rainwater in rain barrels for use during dry months is an excellent way to conserve water and reduce water bills.  During the workshop, citizens will be instructed on rain barrel maintenance and water conservation landscaping. 

The Rain Barrel workshop is open to the first 30 DeKalb County residents that sign up.  This is a “hands on” workshop where residents will make their own rain barrels with DWM assistance.

The cost of the workshop is $65, which includes all the materials to make your very own barrel. The deadline to register is Monday, Sept.

Atlanta Public Schools Neighborhood Celebration Set for Oct. 2nd

Atlanta, GA-- The second APS Neighborhood Celebration is scheduled for 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 at Maynard Holbrook Jackson High School.

The event, which is part pep rally and open house, celebrates and showcases APS neighborhood schools through displays and performances created by school staff and students from southeast Atlanta.

Volunteers Needed for PGA Tour Championship at East Lake Country Club

Atlanta, GA-- Dream Makers Youth Foundation (DMYF) needs volunteers to help work the concession stands during the PGA Tour Championship held at The East Lake Country Club from September 22nd – 26th. Proceeds will help fund their S.T.A.R.S. Adaptive Sports Program for children with special needs; this program has two basketball seasons each year, and year-round tennis lessons. Thus far, these programs have been offered free of charge!

In order for DMYF to be successful, and for them to be able to continue to offer free programming to children with special needs, your support is essential! 

For every DMYF volunteer who completes a full shift, a percentage of the concession stand earnings made throughout the entire tournament, will be contributed to Dream Makers Youth Foundation. Volunteers must wear dress pants, a white shirt, and comfortable shoes.
