Make Your Own Rain Barrel

Collecting rainwater in rain barrels for use during dry months is an excellent way to conserve water and reduce water bills and the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) will host a Rain Barrel workshop for DeKalb citizens on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Tucker Recreation Center (4898 Lavista Road in Tucker).

Councilman Kwanza Hall will be Showcasing the Old 4th Ward on Public Broadcasting, Tonight at 7pm

Atlanta, GA-- Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall will join residents of Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood for the premier of BlockHeads – a new show featuring neighborhoods that are improving themselves one property and block at a time.

 “The Old Fourth Ward is on a roll,” said Hall. “It’s great to see our residents and businesses acknowledged for the part they are playing in the block-by-block progress of one of intown Atlanta’s most dynamic neighborhoods.”

The show will debut tonight Wednesday September 8th at 7 pm.

Old Fourth Ward residents will gather for a viewing party at Noni's Deli and Bar on Edgewood Avenue for the 7 p.m. premier.

The show’s name denotes the singular commitment of urban dwellers to their neighbors and the revitalization and sustainability of their neighborhoods.

American Shingle and Siding Shuts Its Doors

Thousands of homeowners have been left in the lurch by an Atlanta based roofing company.
It abruptly closed its doors after taking large deposits from homeowners for roofing jobs and not finishing the work.
Now our center for investigative action has learned a criminal investigation is underway.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Department in Macon has launched an investigation after American Shingle and Siding closed its doors earlier this month after taking large deposits from homeowners for roofing work. Captain Mike Smallwood said,""There will be criminal charges." He believe the company will be charged with theft by conversion.

The owner of American Shingle, Carlton DeWayne Dunko, says he did not deposit those checks and plans to return them. However, he said he had gotten into financial difficulty has was using new deposits to pay creditors rather than using the money to do the specific jobs that the deposits were for.
