Dekalb County DA Announces New Appointments

DECATUR -- Recently, DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James recently announced the appointment of Nicole D. Marchand as Chief Assistant District Attorney, Craig S. Scott as Chief Investigator, Erik Burton as Director of Communications and Kaleema Thomas as Director of Diversion Programs.

Marchand, an Emory Law School graduate, previously served as the Acting Solicitor-General and Chief Assistant Solicitor-General. Scott previously served under James as his Chief Investigator in the Solicitor-General’s office and has worked as an investigator in the District Attorney’s office under former District Attorneys J. Tom Morgan, Jeff Brickman and Gwen Keyes Fleming. Burton, a Florida A&M University graduate, was the former Communications Director for the Office of the Solicitor-General and Community Relations Director for DeKalb County Government. Thomas previously managed all diversion programs for The Office of the Solicitor-General and coordinated the activities of the Jobs Not Jail program.

Marchand’s responsibilities include managing the office’s $12M budget, 155 employees and various special prosecution units in the DA’s office. Scott will oversee and coordinate all investigations led by the DA’s office. Burton will manage all external communications platforms, community relations activities and media relations. Thomas will develop and coordinate all diversion programs for the office which prosecutes more than 8,000 cases annually.
